What' s Buzzin' at My Schools

My schools are really BUZZING this year!  The year began VERY busy with the new e-mail system and OpenOffice.org.  Shelia Beck has been a great help since she joined our team on October 1st.  I have been helping teachers integrate all kinds of technology in their classrooms.

  • Bluestone and Park View High Schools have been learning to use SOL Test Builder.  This is a great software program that helps teachers build tests quickly and can assess their students by testing then online.  This is a great program and the teachers and administrators are excited to begin using it!

  • Each school has been given an Onfinity Portable Interactive Whiteboard system.  This system is really cool!  Teachers can turn their mounted whiteboards into an interactive computer screen.  NO SMARTboard necessary!!!  I have trained teachers at Buckhorn Elementary and I have scheduled trainings at Bluestone and Park View before the end of the month.  Come check out this new equipment… you will be amazed!!

  • Student response systems are making a big showing at all of my schools.  Christina Bender and Tara Beck at Park View High School are in the beginning stages of using the Senteo systems.  Debra Pearce is getting her Qwizdom system underway and Kathy Johnson is ready to use her CPS student response system.  Student response systems are a great way to break-up the way you assess your students as well as get instant feedback.  I will be training a group of teacher at Buckhorn next week on the Senteo system.  Please let me know if you would like more information!

  • The Bucks are really pluggin’ in!  Kim Corum, Kim Eure, and Kelly Clary are using the SMARTboard in their classes!   Mrs. Corum is a new teacher from South Hill Elementary and she bring a lot of expertise with her and sharing with the other teachers.  I am VERY proud of the progress at Buckhorn!
